Gorilla Trekking Permits LTD presents a fast paced 3 days gorilla trekking safari to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is wonderful journey leading you to trek some of the rarest species in the jungle, mountain gorillas are endangered species which are endemic to volcainic tropical forests of Bwindi and Virunga Massif. Majorly this trip is aimed at trekking the mountain gorillas, and involves one of the longer driving journeys on a safari to Uganda. This trip suggestion starts from Kampala goes to southwestern Uganda in Kisoro (Bwindi) and goes back to ends in Kampala. It’s a two days of driving from and to between Kampala, and one day trekking gorillas Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The means of transportation is by road using the 4×4 land cruiser safari vehicle, every day of the trip starts with breakfast, has lunch en-route and ends as planned in the detailed itinerary. The trip is suitable for luxury, midrange and budget travelers.

Detailed Trip

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Will picked from your lodge/hotel to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park southwestern Uganda. This is a long day of driving which requires to depart from Kampala quite early in the morning as the drive can take about 9 to 10 hours with en-route stopovers. Two en-route stopovers at Kayabwe Equator point for photographs and another stopover at Mbarara city for lunch, and relaxing. Reaching Bwindi in the evening hours will enter Bwindi via Buhoma sector, however, this depends on the availability of the trekking permits. Check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Trek Gorilla and Lake Bunyonyi                                       

Early morning will hurry driving to Buhoma starting point for the trekking etiquette briefed which starts at 7:30am. Get arranged in groups of 8 trekkers assigned trekking a single habituated family alongside an armed and experienced driver guide. Gorilla trekking time is unpredictable but can take about 30 minutes to about 4 hours to meet these amazing apes. Gorilla trekking is walking through moist thick jungle, hikes and slopes, hills and valleys until you encounter the gorillas which is a lifetime experiences. On finding the gorillas, one has a full one hour before their presence watching and silently following the gorillas, as the juveniles keep entertaining you with jumps.

Trekking is very exhausting, but after the experience with the apes, you return to the starting point, refresh with lunch and then you check-out of your lodge and drive to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. At Lake Bunyonyi, possibly can take an evening boat ride for relaxing, and check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight overlooking this amazing lake.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala

After that amazing picnic delicious breakfast, embark on your long day drive back to Kampala. Consider an en-route to Mbarara for lunch at Igongo Cultural Center, and can have a 30 minute tour through the center’s museum which displays the historical life of western Uganda, and Uganda. Reaching Kampala will be in the late evening hours, drop off either at your hotel/lodge in Kampala/ Entebbe or Entebbe International Airport for your next flight back home.
